Liebherr in Killarney has a long tradition of apprentice training.
The very first apprentices enrolled in 1959 and to date, Liebherr has trained over 1000 apprentices in Killarney.
“Apprenticeships have always been a vital component of Liebherr’s business strategy and is in line with the Liebherr philosophy that practical and theoretical training must go hand in hand,” Trevor O’Donoghue, from Liebherr, said.
“The apprentice-training model combines a practical and theoretical education, delivered with the cooperation of SOLAS, the state body with responsibility for training and further education. Recent years has seen Liebherr invest over €250,000 in the expansion and upgrading of their apprentice training facilities in Killarney.
“2019 sees the proud tradition of apprentice training continuing, with 14 new apprentices embarking on their training at Liebherr Container Cranes this January. Five of the apprentices are electrical apprentices, three are mechanical automation and maintenance fitters, whilst six are metal fabrication apprentices,” he said.
