Have you forgotten how good it looks?
By Sean Moriarty
The gardens at Muckross House and Killarney House are in full bloom and management at the two tourists attractions are encouraging locals to pay a visit before the tourist season takes off in earnest.
The garden at Killarney House is in a spectacular display of roses.
“The heritage variety of rose, Rosa Wild Edric, around the House, is at its most magnificent these days. Red roses were one of Mrs Mary McShain’s favourite flowers. The McShains were also very proud of the avenue of Cherry Trees, which they planted to remind them of their time living in Washington D.C.,” said manager Pat Dawson.
“As the summer season unfolds in earnest and as we prepare to welcome the very many visitors who will ‘staycation’ in Killarney, we should take a moment to reflect on the beauty of our surroundings here in Killarney. Before the hordes of visitors return again post COVID-19, take the opportunity to savour and enjoy the beautifully maintained gardens at Muckross House and Killarney House. Just go and enjoy and give thanks for the generosity of the McShain family and the dedication of the garden staff at Killarney House and Gardens.”
