Concerns over future of current hospital sites

With the opening of the new Killarney hospital imminent, concerns have been raised about the future of the existing District Hospital and St. Columbanus Home.
Fears have been expressed that these historic buildings could fall into disrepair or dereliction once they are vacated.
At this week’s meeting of Killarney Municipal District, Mayor Maura Healy-Rae reiterated these concerns.
She called on the Council to write to the HSE requesting information and details on their plans for the future use of both sites once the new hospital is operational.
While the HSE has committed to providing a Minor Injuries Clinic in Killarney, the location for this service has yet to be revealed.
Healy-Rae told the meeting that the soon to be vacated buildings would make ideal locations for a Minor Injuries Clinic
