Students rally to help those in need

By Michelle Crean
Students and staff shocked with the events unfolding in Ukraine have collected and sorted goods to donate to those displaced as a result.
The group of Transition Years and their teachers from St Brigid's Presentation Killarney felt huge compassion to help and wanted to support the ‘Collection for Ukraine’.
"This has been a Transition Year lead action all week, from students creating posters and announcements to make the school community aware donations were being accepted," teacher Ms Quilter said.
Once received the students set about sorting, separating, packing the donations and then loading them into the collection van.
"Watching and listening to the news can make us all feel helpless but it’s important to remember we can all play a part through small individual actions which collectively has the power to make a big difference. Thank you to all students, staff and management for their support, the response has been incredibly generous."
Special mention to students Abbie C O’Sullivan, Keira Geaney, Alice Boyle O’Sullivan, Abbie Leslie, Grace Smith, Shannon McCarthy and Maeve O’Connor for taking on extra responsibilities, and staff members Ms Gilligan, Ms R O’ Sullivan, Ms Payne and Mr Fleming also, she added.
