South Doc strike action deferred

Strike action by South Doc staff - including those in Killarney - which was due to go ahead next Friday (December 18) has been deferred.
The move comes after an agreement was reached at the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) on Wednesday over a pay dispute with the HSE.
Killarney based call centre employees, who work in Hillard’s Lane in Killarney town centre managing the out of hours medical service, as well as other South Doc staff across the county had served strike notice on the HSE.
Staff had sought that the HSE restore pay reductions imposed on workers in Section 39 organisations in line with an agreement brokered at the Workplace Relations Commission in October 2018.
"The strike action on December 18 has been deferred," Donie Doody, Branch Organiser with SIPTU, told the Killarney Advertiser yesterday (Thursday).
"There was an offer made as part of the recommendation and they'll receive the pay increase over a period of time. Also, further negotiations will be held in the New Year."
