ONE of Lough Guitane's most popular residents Seamus (Sham) Courtney did the honours at a sod-turning event this morning led by the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Renewal, Damien English.
Local landowner Sham was on hand as the construction of a water treatment plant was begun at Lough Guitane.
The water treatment plant is part of a €30 million investment by Irish Water in the Kerry Central Regional Water Supply Scheme which also includes upgrades to existing water infrastructure on the supply, servicing 62,000 people on 9 water supply zones in the county.
