Red alert as extreme wind warning issued for Kerry
.
Tomorrow's storm warning has been upgraded to Red for Kerry and Cork as Met Éireann anticipates violent gusts across both counties.
Wind is expected to take a turn for the worse from 6am tomorrow morning (Tuesday) as Storm Barra takes hold of the country.
Southwesterly winds will later veer northwesterly reaching mean speeds in excess of 80km/h with severe or damaging gusts in excess of 130km/h.
Due to a combination of high waves, storm surge and high tide, coastal flooding is expected. Disruption to power and travel are also likely.
It's expected that weather conditions will remain bad for most of the day easing off at approximately 9pm tomorrow night.
