Rail disruption to affect Dublin–Killarney services this weekend

Rail passengers travelling between Dublin and Killarney or Tralee this weekend are being advised to plan ahead, as major engineering works will disrupt services on all Heuston routes.

The works, taking place on Saturday and Sunday, November 1 and 2, involve track crossover replacement and culvert renewals between Dublin Heuston and Newbridge.

As a result, direct Dublin to Killarney and Tralee services will not operate for the weekend. Instead, trains will run between Mallow and Tralee only, with connections available via Cork on a revised timetable.

Iarnród Éireann has urged customers to check journey times and connection details before travelling on www.irishrail.ie or the Iarnród Éireann app, as schedules will vary throughout the weekend.

Killarney-based musician Shane Doolan will release his latest single, ‘SPACEMAN’, this Friday, December 19.

The new track is described as an atmospheric release exploring themes of ambition, isolation, and the desire to escape everyday limits. The single showcases Doolan’s evolving sound, combining emotional storytelling with cinematic production.
The release follows a significant year for the young artist. Earlier in 2024, Doolan headlined his first live show at The Anam Centre in Killarney. The event was a major local success, raising over €1,055 for Movember, the men’s health charity.
Doolan, who first gained local attention after his band won the Battle of the Bands at the Anam Centre, has cited influences such as Walking on Cars, Bon Iver, and Kodaline. Following his September debut, “The Ruins,” and his second single, “After The Bells,” he is currently working toward a debut EP set for release in January 2026.
‘SPACEMA’ will be available on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and all major streaming platforms from this Friday.
