Public input sought on vacant Dereen lands

Kerry County Council is seeking the community's input on the future of a vacant land parcel in Derreen.
The public consultation aims to identify the most suitable use for the 1.2-hectare site located between Killarney Celtic and Killarney Legion GAA sports clubs.
The council is inviting expressions of interest through a public consultation.
Interested parties can submit proposals outlining their vision for the development and use of the land via Kerry County Council’s Consultation interface: https://consult.kerrycoco.ie/en/content/lands-derreen-killarney-public-call-expressions-interest
Applications can also be submitted email (killarneymunicipaldistrict@kerrycoco.ie) or by post and hand delivery to the Town Hall.
The site borders the Deenagh River, a designated Special Area of Conservation.
A community sports centre is currently under construction south of the site, with planning permission already granted for a playground.
The application window is open for six weeks and closes on Wednesday, February 19, 2025.
