Pressure on bed capacity at University Hospital Kerry

DUE to a very high volume of presentations at the emergency department and subsequent admissions, there is a significant pressure on bed capacity throughout UHK, resulting in prolonged wait times in the emergency department at present.
Hospital management has now activated the escalation policy to manage the situation over the coming days, and has taken the step of writing to local GPs informing them of this.
Every effort is being made to ensure that each patient receives appropriate care, in the shortest time frame possible.
