No cause for concern as military aircraft seen flying over Killarney
By Sean Moriarty
Two military style aircraft were seen flying low over Killarney National Park this morning (Friday) but the Killarney Advertiser can confirm that there is no reason to be concerned.
The Irish Air Corp were on a training mission earlier today and the training took the aircraft, at low altitude, over Killarney National Park.
The Irish Air Corps currently operates eight Pilatus PC9M aircraft. These aircraft first entered service in 2004 and operate as the main pilot training aircraft for the Air Corps.
Two PC9M aeroplanes were spotted flying over the National Park and their presence in the area was confirmed by the Defence Forces Press Office to the Killarney Advertiser.
“There are currently a formation of two Pilatus PC9M from the Irish Air Corps Flying Training School (FTS) aircraft on navigation training exercise. The proposed route would have taken them over Killarney,” a Defence Forces Press Office spokesperson told the Killarney Advertiser.
