Musical Society announces production team for 2027 show ‘Sister Act’

Killarney Musical Society has officially unveiled its star-studded production team for its highly anticipated spring 2027 staging of the hit musical Sister Act.

The production will run from March 20 to 4 next year at the Gleneagle Arena, with details regarding upcoming auditions and ticket sales expected to be announced shortly.
Award-winning director Oliver Hurley, owner of the Oliver Hurley School of Musical Theatre, returns to take the helm for what will be his 16th production with the society.
Joining the team for the first time is choreographer Barbara Meany, who was recently awarded Best Choreographer (Gilbert Section) at the prestigious Association of Irish Musical Societies (AIMS) awards.
Returning to lead the musical department is Jimmy Brockie, marking his fourth show as Musical Director for the society. Brockie will collaborate with a full live orchestra every night. Working alongside him is Sorcha O’Connor, who returns as Choral Mistress to rehearse and develop the vocal performances of the cast.
Newly appointed Public Relations Officer (PRO) for Killarney Musical Society, Lisa Campbell said:
"With such a talented production team secured, everyone at Killarney Musical Society is incredibly excited to begin work on Sister Act. We are looking forward to bringing this uplifting, hilarious, and high-energy show to local audiences at the Gleneagle Arena in March 2027."

Ballymac Vintage Club has launched its 16th Annual Classic Car and Honda 50 Run, which takes place on August 2.

The event begins at O’Riadas Bar and Restaurant in Ballymacelligott with Cars and Coffee from 9:00am. Vehicles will depart at 11:00pm.
This year’s run will finish in Knocknagoshel in partnership with the Knocknagoshel Meals on Wheels team, where tea and coffee will be served. Spot prizes will be distributed on the day.
Donations will be collected on the day, with proceeds going to the Kerry Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes and St John of God Oileán Beo.
Sponsors for the event include BG Motors Killarney, Browne’s Agri, Steel and Builders Providers, and O Riada’s Bar and Restaurant.

Huge congratulations to Killarney couple Elaine Sugrue and Shane Reen on their spectacular wedding celebrations on Saturday, June 6.

Elaine, who was born in Manchester and has lived in Killarney since she was a teenager, travelled back to her home city with Shane for a truly unforgettable day. As massive Manchester United fans, the couple said an “I Do” with a view. Their stunning wedding ceremony took place on Hotel Football’s spectacular rooftop terrace, “Heaven”, directly overlooking the iconic Old Trafford stadium, before everyone moved downstairs into the hotel’s fantastic Stadium Suite for the dinner party.
The beautiful couple now resides in Barraduff with their two wonderful children, Brooke and Tadhg, who were right there to celebrate the magic. A big crowd of family and friends made the journey over from Ireland to support Elaine and Shane on their special day.
The party didn’t stop there. Day two celebrations were kept lively and local at the historic Spread Eagle in Chorlton, where everyone toasted to the new Mr. and Mrs. Reen. Wishing Elaine, Shane, and their beautiful family a lifetime of love and laughter.
