Local artist Dolores Lyne’s exhibition moves to New Road
An exhibition by local artist Dolores Lyne has transferred to the Gallery at the Government Buildings in Dublin after a month at Killarney Library.
‘To The Letter’ is an exhibition of paintings and works by Lyne.
They are inspired by a trove of family letters between two brothers, General Liam Lynch Chief of staff IRA and his brother Tom from 1917 -1923.
The large folding canvases evoke the locations where the letters were written, hard-to-find safe houses and remote farmsteads from the Cork and Kerry borders and beyond; turbulent and dangerous time in Ireland’s history.
The exhibition was originally commissioned as part of Cork County Council’s Decade of Centenary programme.
