Well-known local musician Liam O’Connor will join forces with Eurovision hero Brian Kennedy for a special Christmas performance that will take place in the Friary Church on Sunday, December 15.
O’Connor is a regular feature on the local scene and was recently named as ‘Ireland’s Most Influential Accordion Player’ at the Irish Entertainment Awards.
Kennedy from Belfast, represented Ireland in the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest final in Athens where he finished tenth.
His performance in the contest's semi-finals marked the 1000th song to feature in the history of the Eurovision competition. The song also performed well in the Irish charts, becoming a number four hit.
The pair worked together in the past including concerts in Limerick two years ago and one in Boherbue County Cork in October.
“He is an internationally recognised singer and I like working with Brian,” Liam told the Killarney Advertiser. “It will be very nice and there will be great synergy, and as it’s coming up to Christmas there will be a few traditional Christmas songs too.”
