Killarney’s sole rep at Ploughing Championships

By Sean Moriarty
Mike Brosnan was the only member of Killarney Ploughing Association to qualify for last week’s National Ploughing Association’s All-Ireland finals.
Last weekend, Mike and his helper James Collins competed in the ‘Two-furrow mounted vintage category’ and he placed 12th in the country with a score of 146.
Killarney Ploughing Association’s chairman Thomas Wharton was at the event and witnessed Mike’s competition.
“Mike got on very well considering the 18 months with no practice. He was up against the best of the best,” he said.
Meanwhile, Killarney Ploughing Association is hoping to run its local championships in November.
“We are very proud of Mike representing both Killarney and Kerry in the National Ploughing Championships,” the Association’s press officer Veronica Heaslip told the Killarney Advertiser. “We have no date yet for our local match as we haven’t had our AGM, but we are hoping for early November.”
