Killarney filmmakers in the frame
T
THE Golden Globes may have been the focus of attention last night but a short movie by two Killarney filmmakers is to enjoy the limelight next week.
Edesia, by Noreen Bingham and Dennis Earlie, will be shown on the forthcoming new series entitled "The Short Film Show" and is in the running for one of its major prizes. “Edesia is a quirky interpretative film using Edesia the Roman Goddess of food as a title to evoke a young girls understanding of a food disorder as seen through her eyes,” said Noreen.
The Short Film Show series will broadcast its first show next Monday, January 15, at 10pm on Sky 212 and Freesat 161 and will broadcast weekly for 10 weeks. The episodes will also be available on Amazon Prime shortly after they are broadcast on Sky; see https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=5&v=M6v7up8xogw
Edesia was nominated for best cinematography in the Southampton International Film Festival last year. “It didn't win but it was nice to be nominated and recognized by the British Film Industry,” said Dennis. He and Noreen completed Edesia as their first short in 2015 and filmed it on location in Killarney.
