Killarney Camera Club names Julia Deady Photographer of the Year
Julia Deady has been named Photographer of the Year by Killarney Camera Club.
The local club held its final competition of the season last week.
Over the course of the year members were invited to submitted photographs of pre-determined themes.
Based on her placings across all seven of the club’s competitions over the years Julia was deemed the winner for the 2024 season.
Her latest creation, a sunrise photograph of the Dolomites, Italy, earned her first place in the Unrestricted category for June.
“It shows the mountains of Compaccio, Saltria, Gioge and Piz with a series of mountain huts in the village of Alpe di Siussi. This region is the highest alpine meadow in Europe, which is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The mist rolling down from the mountains added to the atmosphere of this incredible region,” she said.
Iryna Halaieva won the Novice of the Year award, while the Most Improved Photographer was Maryann Heidtke.
