The National Lottery is today (Friday) urging Daily Million players in Kerry to check their tickets after the top prize of €1 million was won in last night’s (Thursday) 9pm draw.

The winning numbers from the Daily Million Draw were: 05, 07, 09, 16, 34, 37 and the bonus number was 21.

A National Lottery spokesperson appealed for players in the Kingdom to check their tickets.

“The entire country may be suffering from a case of the January blues but someone’s day in Co. Kerry has just got a lot brighter as they are Ireland’s newest millionaire. We are asking everyone in Kerry who bought a ticket for yesterday’s draw, to check their tickets very carefully and if you do happen to be this lucky winner, be sure to sign the back of the ticket and contact our prize claims team on 1800 666 222 or email claims@lottery.ie and we will make arrangements to get your prize.”

This latest €1 million win comes on the back of a hugely successful 2020 in terms of prizes won in the Kingdom last year. In total, Kerry players won over €23 million in prizes which included prizes such as a €9.7 million Lotto jackpot in Killarney last April, a €1 million Lotto Plus 1 top prize in December, and another €1 million Daily Million top prize in Milltown in February.

The National Lottery will announce the location of where this ticket was sold tomorrow (Saturday).

“As with any prize worth €1 million and over, it is important that we take some time to inform the winning retailer and of course to give the winning ticket holder the time and space they need to let this amazing win sink in.”

Killarney breaks national May temperature record

Killarney became one of the hottest spots in the country this week as Ireland’s nationalmaximum air temperature record for the month of May was officially broken.

According to data issued by Met Éireann on Tuesday, the weather station at Muckross House recorded a blistering 29.1°C on Tuesday afternoon.

The extraordinary reading comfortably surpassed the previous county May record of 28.4°C, which had stood for nearly three decades after being set in Liscahane Ardfert, on May 31  1997.

The historic warmth came as Northwest Europe was trapped under an intense high-pressure system, frequently referred to as a heat dome.

The unseasonable weather pattern began pushing temperatures toward record levels on Monday when provisional records were initially breached across several nationwide monitoring stations.

Among Met Éireann’s 25 primary synoptic stations, Shannon Airport in County Clare also surpassed the 1997 milestone by reaching 28.6°C.

The Climate and Automatic Monitoring Program (CAMP) network captured the peak of the heatwave, with three independent stations eclipsing the old record on Tuesday and Wednesday, led by the historic high at Muckross House.
