Jessie wins Best Actress at Olivier Awards

By Michelle Crean
Local actress Jessie Buckley - who is making a huge name for herself across the water - has added another feather to her bow after winning Best Actress in a Musical at the Olivier Awards.
The awards night, in London's Royal Albert Hall last night (Sunday), recognises excellence in professional theatre. Jessie, who was nominated for an Oscar for her role as supporting actress in 'The Lost Daughter', played Sally Bowles in the West End musical 'Cabaret' at the Playhouse Theatre London. Eddie Redmayne, who starred alongside her, won Best Actor in a Musical in the reinvented 1966 Kander & Ebb classic and said he wouldn't have taken on the role without Jessie agreeing to be his co-star. 'Caberet' was also named 'Best Musical Revival' and secured many other plaudits on the night. One of the most successful musicals of all time, 'Caberet' features the songs 'Wilkommen', 'Don’t Tell Mama', 'Mein Herr', 'Maybe This Time', and 'Money'.
