Hollywood star showcases town to 3m followers

A Hollywood star who popped by Killarney this week shared the town's beauty with his 3 million Instagram followers.

Jesse Tyler Ferguson best known as star of the popular sitcom television series 'Modern Family' took a quick trip to Kerry and soaked in the stunning sights Killarney has on offer.

The 45-year-old actor, who is in Ireland currently filming Elizabeth Bank’s new film 'Cocaine Bear', posted a photo of his husband Justin Mikita at Ross Castle.

The couple stayed in the Great Southern Killarney during their few days here.

He also shared a snap of himself tucked into a hole in the wall of the castle, and another with jarveys including 15-year-old Lewis Tangney which he said was the highlight of his trip. His photos received over 72,000 likes.

"30 hours! Killarney & Cork. Went on a jaunting tour of Killarney park with my new friend Lewis… he’s 15 and a 6th generation “jarvey” - which was our highlight of Ireland so far. Killarney HeartBeat received an unexpected last-minute donation of €469 following a two-day Christmas Jumper event held by the staff at An Post on New Street.

Organised by Ann Clifford and the local post office team, the fundraiser saw staff and customers contribute toward the heart support group.

Motorists urged to drive with care during frosty weather

Kerry County Council have issued a warning to motorists today, urging all road users to drive carefully today and tomorrow.

A Status Yellow ice and frost warning is in place for Kerry, with conditions expected to cause sharp frost, icy stretches and black ice on the road.

The council said that priority routes will be treated twice this evening and tonight.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time for journeys and to drive with care, especially on untreated roads.
