Killarney Gardai are reporting a high level of compliance amongst pub owners since those that serve food were allowed reopen after pandemic restrictions were eased on June 29.

Since that date pubs have been allowed to serve alcohol to customers who order a ‘substantial meal’, but non-food serving pubs this week learned that they have to remain closed for at least another three weeks.

There are restrictions too on the length of a time a customer can stay at the premises and the amount of people allowed in at anyone time.

Last weekend’s Bank Holiday weekend was particularly busy in Killarney.

Local Gardai carried out spot checks on several premises but reported a high-level of compliance.

“There was a lot of enforcement and monitoring over the weekend but there is a high level of compliance in Killarney,” Superintendent Flor Murphy told the Killarney Advertiser.

Local Gardai also reported a much quieter Bank Holiday weekend in terms of public order offences.
