Part of the Girl Guide promise is to care for others and on Saturday they proved that by donating to one local charity.

Killarney District Girl Guides, which includes Ladybirds, Brownies, Guides, Senior Branch and Guiders, held their Christmas celebrations on Saturday with a Christmas fun day in Killarney Community College.

The generosity and caring for others ethos was unveiled on the day when they donated toiletries, sanitary products, toothbrushes etc., to Dignity Packs Kerry, Ann O’Connell explained.

“Part of the Guide Promise is to help other people, so to honour this, IGG Killarney District do a service project every year. This year Dignity Packs Kerry was the chosen charity because they provide male and female packs to people of all ages in reduced circumstances, helping to maintain privacy and dignity in a time of need. It is a wonderful service and one which IGG Killarney are proud to be associated with.”

All branches from Ladybirds, age five to seven, Brownies, age seven to 10, Guides age 10 to 14, and Senior branch aged 14 up, are eager and happy to donate to causes such as Dignity Packs Kerry, she added.

“It teaches the girls compassion, generosity and selflessness.”

Dignity Packs Kerry thanked the girls for their hard work and dedication saying their kindness will make a difference to the lives of those less fortunate.
