Tiernaboul National School is excited to announce its upcoming fundraising dance, set to take place on June 15 at The Heights Hotel in Killarney.

The event aims to raise vital funds for the ongoing development of the school, benefiting its students and the wider community.
Attendees will enjoy an evening of entertainment featuring live music by the talented Blackwater Sound band. The event promises to be a lively and enjoyable occasion for all while supporting a worthy cause.
Tickets for the fundraising dance go on sale this week and are priced at only €10 each, offering fantastic value for a fun filled evening out.
In addition to the music and dancing, an exciting raffle with fantastic prizes up for grabs will also be held on the night.
Tiernaboul National School is a cornerstone of the local community in the area, providing quality education to children in Tiernaboul and surrounding areas. The school is committed to fostering a nurturing environment where students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally and to this end the Board of the school wish to upgrade the facilities available in the school building and its grounds.
Chairperson of the Board of Management at Tiernaboul National School, Mr. Donal Hickey encourages everyone to show their support by purchasing tickets, available directly from the school and families of those attending the school. The Glenflesk figure dancing team of Clodagh McSwiney, Rebecca O’Donoghue, Rachel O’Donoghue, Emily McMahon, Seoidín Dunne, and Paddy MacGillicuddy, pictured following their victory in the East Kerry Final of Scór na bPáistí in Fossa. Mentored by Maria McMahon and Lisa Hegarty, the group will now represent the district in the county final in Ballybunion on March 22nd.

Spring welcomed with trad music at Muckross House


A special musical celebration titled ‘St. Brigid and the Arrival of Spring’ took place recently in the great hall of Muckross House.


The event, presented by the Muckross House Research Library on behalf of the Trustees, featured performances by world-famous tin whistle player Mary Bergin, master harper Kathleen Loughnane, and fiddle and bouzouki player Mick Conneely.
The evening included a repertoire of jigs, reels, and slow airs. During the performance, Kathleen Loughnane shared historical insights into the Belfast Harp Festival of 1792, where Edward Bunting recorded ancient tunes to preserve them. She also highlighted the story of a North Kerry man named Lyons who served as the harper to Lord Antrim.
Former Mayor of Killarney, Michael Gleeson, was among the attendees and praised the event for its informative and enjoyable atmosphere. He noted that the music helped dispel the gloom of recent weather and extended his thanks to Patricia and the organizing team.
