Free December parking aims to set tills ringing
K
KERRY COUNTY COUNCIL has announced details of free parking arrangements for the Christmas season in council-owned car parks in the county’s three largest towns.
Car parking will be free for the month of December in Killarney in both the High Street and Lewis Road car parks. Parking will be free up to 11am daily in the Glebe and Fair Hill car parks and in the lower seion of New Street car park.
The Cathaoirleach of Kerry County Council, Cllr John Sheahan, said the temporary suspension of parking charges was an effort on behalf of the council to encourage support for local businesses over the Christmas season.
“As has happened in other years, Kerry County Council is providing some amendments to the parking charges regime to give a small but significant incentive to shoppers to shop local and support local businesses at Christmas time," he said.
“Every euro spent locally supports local jobs and keeps money in the county’s economy."
