Fossa Rowing Club recently honoured rowing legend Jimmy Doyle to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the club’s victory in the Junior Sixes Cup at the Killarney Regatta in 1994.

Doyle, a master craftsman, boatbuilder, and renowned figure on Lough Lein, has been instrumental in the success of numerous rowing crews in Killarney and at national level.

As cox, Jimmy steered the Fossa Rowing Club's Junior Sixes crew to victory in the 1994 Killarney Regatta, a feat that continues to be celebrated three decades later.

To honour Jimmy's achievement, members of the Fossa Rowing Club visited his home and treated him to a reunion lunch at the Royal Hotel in Killarney.

The crew members who competed in the 1994 Junior Sixes Cup, including Paul Griffin, Colm O'Brien, Stephen Blennerhassett, Declan Madden, Eric Wharton, and Donal Daly, joined Doyle for a trip down memory lane.

Many of the crew members who competed in the Junior Sixes Cup went on to achieve success at the national, international, and world levels. Doyle's knowledge and experience in rowing, boatbuilding, and coaching played a significant role in their development.
