Flooding prevention works to commence in Fossa, Glenflesk and Killarney

S
STEPS are being taken to protect against another flooding crisis in Fossa, Glenflesk and other areas in Killarney, according to Kerry County Council.
Evacuations became commonplace as Storm Desmond battered the county in December, when the first-ever Red Alert for rainfall was issued in the county.
Today news was welcomed that works on flood relief are to commence in the greater Killarney area in coming weeks.
Kerry TD Michael Healy-Rae said: “The flooding crisis in Fossa caused serious problems to residents in the area last December. A pipe will be put in place to join up with other pipes and will take the water to the lake in Fossa.”
Kerry County Council added that flood relief would also be carried out in Glenflesk, Whitebridge and the Ross Road in Killarney in the coming weeks. “I welcome the fact that this necessary work is going to be carried out in the coming weeks as residents have been very worried about the winter and the fear of further flooding,” said Deputy Healy-Rae.
