Fassbender to race at Mondello Park this weekend

Michael Fassbender is to make his first appearance at an Irish race track this weekend.
He has placed an entry for Mondello Park’s annual 6 Hour Endurance Race.
He will partner former Grand Prix drivers David Kennedy and Tommy Byrne in a POB Motorsport run car, alongside newly crowned Siltex Safety Zetec champion Michael Barrable and his sons Peter and Rob, who have won this event twice before.
“Yes, you read that right, the famous actor and sometime race driver is travelling to Ireland this weekend to drive a Siltex Safety Ford Fiesta Zetec against a horde of club and international racers,” reported the website Motorsport.ie this week.
The Hollywood A-lister has been racing in the European Le Mans series for the last four seasons.
His last Irish appearance at the wheel of a competition car was during the 2019 Rally of the Lakes when he drove a Ford Escort Mk2.
Over 100 drivers making up 21 teams will take to the grid at Mondello Park on Sunday at midday, with the winner taking the chequered flag at 6pm- in the dark.
Mondello Park is offering free entry to the event.
