Jerry is originally from Coolavokig in Cork and Bridie from Ballyheigue. They married in Bridie's home parish in St Mray's Church on November 27, 1971. The couple settled in Woodlawn where they reared their children. On their 50th wedding anniversary Jerry and Bridie were blessed during a special Mass said by Fr Kieran O'Brien, a cousin of Bridie's, in the chapel in the Church of the Resurrection.
"We then went to the Oaks for a lovely family meal," her daughter Eilís told the Killarney Advertiser.
