Concert to raise funds for wheelchair-friendly garden at Sli Nua
A fundraising dance is being organised on Friday night – featuring local musician Neilie O’Connor – for the Sli Nua Day Centre in Ballydribbeen.
Sli Nua is a day service run by Kerry Parents and Friends Association.
The centre supports nine people who are either full-time or occasional wheelchair users.
The nine users are aiming to upgrade the garden space at the centre, making it accessible for all who attend.
Those of us who walk can be a bit unsteady. Sli Nua can be a busy and sometimes noisy place when we are all there together. At times like these the tranquility of the garden calls us outside,” said Breeda Daly.
“Unfortunately, there is a lot of grass in the garden and our wheelchairs won’t travel over it. We would like to be able to access all our garden and spend time there. We aim to have a shaded, tranquil, restorative, sensory garden that is accessible to everyone. We would greatly appreciate your support with this fundraiser.”
The concert will take place this Friday at the Heights Hotel at 8 pm. Tickets cost €10 and are available from the Kerry Parents and Friends Association office at the Old Monastery or on the door on the night.
