Club face massive bill following vandalism
By Sean Moriarty
Killarney Celtic Football Club face a bill that could run into thousands of euros after a pitchside dugout was vandalised for the second time.
Club officials found the damaged dugout on Friday night last when they turned on the flood lights on what is known at the club’s second pitch.
As this pitch is only used during busier times, club officials don’t really know how long the dugout lay damaged. They have reported the incident to the Gardai and a criminal damage investigation is underway.
The club don’t know yet how much the repair job will cost especially given the current rising costs of construction material.
“This is particularly frustrating for [chairman] Tim Jones. He and a group of club members re-built that dugout about two years ago after it was damaged before,” said vice chair Paul Sherry. “This is likely to run in to thousands of euros.”
