Killarney driver Alan Ring tops the FIA European Historic Rally Championship Pre-2000 (Category 5) standings following last weekend's Rallye Elba Storico in Italy.

Campaigning his Subaru Impreza alongside West Cork co-driver Adrian Deasy, Ring holds 101 points at the top after a class win Elba last weekend , moving 22 points clear of Dutch driver Arnold Van Der Smeede (79pts) with one round remaining.

The title decider takes place at the Rallye Sanremo Storico on October 16–17. A solid finish on the Italian tarmac will secure Ring and Deasy the FIA European Pre-2000 championship crown.
