Gardaí continue appeal for information in relation to post office raid

GARDAÍ in Kerry are continuing to appeal for any information in relation to the post office robbery at Waterville which occurred yesterday and the subsequent arrest of two individuals in the Beaufort area.

Gardaí are particularly interested in tracking the movements of a blue three-door Ford Ka, registered number 99D84126. “Any sightings of this vehicle on Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning prior to or immediately after the raid should be reported to Killarney Gardaí,” said Superintendent Flor Murphy. This car was abandoned and found burning approximately seven miles from Waterville on the Ballaghisheen Road.

Investigating officers are anxious to trace the movements of aBlue Mazda 6 vehicle, registered number 03D8947. “Gardaí believe that this vehicle was also used by the raiders and was found burning at Ardraw, Beaufort, at approximately 12.30pm yesterday the 03/08/16,” said Supt Murphy.

Gardaí also appealing for any information from garage owners in relation to the unusual or suspicious purchase of petrol prior to the events yesterday. Both aforementioned vehicles were found burnt out after the incident.

Members of the public, landowners, walkers, cyclists, in the Waterville, Ballaghisheen, Glencar and Beaufort areas are also urged to come forward if they have any information in relation to any unusual or suspicious items that may have been discarded to contact the Gardaí.

“I also wish to acknowledge the tremendous response and assistance from members of the public in relation to the events yesterday which has progressed our investigations,” added Supt Murphy.

Gardai confirm person of interest “has left jurisdiction” in Killarney murder case

Person of interest leaves jurisdiction in Killarney murder case

Gardaí investigating the murder of Jamey Carney have confirmed that a person of interest left the jurisdiction in the early hours of Tuesday July 7, prior to the discovery of the body.

An Garda Síochána are currently engaging with international law enforcement partners as part of the ongoing investigation into the death at a domestic residence on Muckross Road. The murder investigation is being carried out by the Serious Crime Unit, Kerry Division, with assistance from national units including the Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation (GNBCI) and the Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB).

The scene at Muckross Road remains preserved today, and the technical examination is continuing.

Gardaí are renewing their appeal for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward. In particular, anyone who was in the Muckross Road area between 11pm on July 6 and 5am on July 7, and who may have camera, CCTV, or dashcam footage, is asked to contact the investigation team.

Killarney Camera Club member Ade Desbrow has secured first place in the Unrestricted Category of the club’s final competition of the season.

His winning photograph, titled ‘Submerged Flowers’, took the top spot in the Open Print Competition.
