Chamber working well with first citizens

The new Mayor of Killarney is carrying on a great tradition with the tremendous service three generations of his family have given to the town.

That was the message from Killarney Chamber of Tourism and Commerce for the newly elected Cllr Martin Grady who they met just days after his election to the top job.
Chamber Co-President, Johnny McGuire, wished Cllr Grady every success in the years ahead and he acknowledged the dedication of his family to public office, to local politics and to community development down through the years.
“Martin’s late father, Donal, his uncle, Seán, and his grandfather, John, have held the chain of office before him and, in fact, it is the eighth time that one of the family has done so.
“It is great to see the family maintaining that great tradition of public service,” he said.
“Chamber wishes Martin every success in the role and we look forward to working with hum on various projects over the next 12 months,” Mr McGuire added.
Meanwhile, Chamber has also paid tribute to outgoing mayor Maura Healy-Rae with whom they had a very successful and mutually beneficial working relationship.
At a Chamber luncheon in the Great Southern Hotel, Killarney a presentation of a framed montage of photographs from her 12 months in office was made to Cllr Healy-Rae – also the third generation of her family to pursue a political involvement.
She said she thoroughly enjoyed the great working relationship she had with the town’s business community.
