Councillor Grady raises further concerns on Fossa works

Published

on

Independent Councillor Martin Grady has added to the concerns surrounding the new road layout in Fossa.

Grady visited the site with local residents to take measurements.
According to Cllr Grady's measurements, the main road carriageway is six meters wide.
He noted that the footpath on the left side of the road (travelling away from Killarney) measures 5.7 meters, while the footpath on the right is 3.3 meters. This means there is a total of 9 meters dedicated to footpaths compared to the 6-meter road width.
Grady suggested that there is still an opportunity to adjust the layout, by moving in the "7-inch curb line on the left side that cars won't mount."
He believes this adjustment could be crucial to allow emergency service vehicles to pass without obstruction.
"I fear this will be the cause of accidents," Cllr Grady added.
