Hundreds set for sold-out Run Killarney
Saturday’s Run Killarney is officially sold out, with hundreds of runners registered to take part across the Half Marathon and 10K events.
The Half Marathon will get underway at 8.00am, followed by the 10K at 9.30am.
Both races start near The Gleneagle Hotel and follow well-known local routes slojg Muckross Road and then entering the spectacular Killarney National Park and finishing back at The Gleneagle Hotel
Half Marathon:
The Half Marathon starts close to The Gleneagle Hotel at 8am and takes you out the Muckross Road and includes a relatively short out and back, before turning back and entering the spectacular Killarney National Park and finishing back at The Gleneagle Hotel.
10K:
The 10K also starts close to The Gleneagle Hotel at 9.30am and is the same much-loved route which has been used in previous years and immerses you in the beauty of Killarney. This is a circular route starting close to The Gleneagle Hotel, out Muckross Road and then entering the spectacular Killarney National Park and finishing back at The Gleneagle Hotel
Road Closures
Drivers should be aware that the N71 from Mangerton Road to just past Muckross Park Hotel, including the junction at Molls Gap, will be closed between 7.30am and 10.45am on Saturday morning. This closure is to ensure the safety of those taking part in the Run Killarney event. Traffic will be redirected, and delays can be expected during this time.

€1m EuroMillions win at Centra The Reeks

Celebrations are underway in Killarney after Centra at The Reeks Gateway on Tralee Road sold a EuroMillions ticket worth €1,005,000 in the Friday, August 21 draw.
The lucky winner secured the life-changing sum through the special Ireland Only Raffle event after purchasing a Quick Pick ticket on the day of the draw.
Store owner John Bowler, who has operated the shop for over 20 years, expressed his delight after receiving the news from the National Lottery.
“There’s a great buzz around the store and we’re absolutely delighted,” Bowler said. “We have a mix of local customers and visitors coming through our doors every day, so the winner could be anyone. While we’ve sold fantastic prizes over the years, this is by far the biggest. It’s wonderful news for Killarney.”
National Lottery spokesperson Emma Monaghan urged anyone who bought a ticket at the store on Friday to check their numbers carefully. The ticket holder is advised to sign the back of the ticket, keep it safe, and contact the National Lottery prize claims team to arrange collection.
