Killarney National Park closed due to severe weather
Killarney National Park is currently closed to the public due to the ongoing severe weather conditions.
The National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) made the decision to close the park following continued snowfall, sleet, and freezing rain. Killarney House, Muckross House, and the main entrances to the park will remain closed.
NPWS management will reassess the situation later today, Tuesday, January 7th, to determine when the park can be safely reopened.
A Status Orange rain and snow warning is currently in effect for Kerry. Met Éireann is forecasting heavy rain that is expected to transition to sleet and snow, with significant accumulations anticipated.
The NPWS advises against travel in the area unless absolutely necessary.
