National Park and volunteers unite against invasive rhododendron

The National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) and the Killarney Mountain Meitheal have released a new video highlighting their efforts to combat the invasive rhododendron that threatens the delicate ecosystem of the National Park.
The video provides a detailed look at the strategies employed to manage and eradicate the invasive plant.
Volunteers from the Killarney Mountain Meitheal play a crucial role in these efforts, working tirelessly to clear the rhododendron and restore the natural beauty of the park.
Adrian McCarthy of AMCC Media Ltd, produced an in-depth look at the approach, focusing on the step-by-step methods employed to manage rhododendron infestation.
Rhododendron, with its dense, evergreen foliage, outcompetes native plants, disrupts wildlife habitats, and alters the park’s ecological balance.
By controlling its spread, the NPWS and volunteers aim to protect the unique biodiversity of Killarney National Park.
