Hotel veteran honoured for lifetime achievement
John Fitzgerald of the Great Southern Killarney was honoured with a special Lifetime Achievement Award by the Irish Hotels Federation (IHF) Kerry Branch this week.
This recognition celebrates his over 50 years of dedicated service to the hospitality industry.
John was presented with a ‘Lifetime Contribution to the Industry’ award by the IHF at its Kerry Branch ‘Employee of the Year’ at a lunch in The Plaza Hotel this week.
In addition to this special award, Maud Dowd, an employee of The Rose Hotel, was named the 2024 IHF Kerry Branch Employee of the Year. Maud was selected from a pool of 17 nominees, with the judging panel highlighting her exceptional attitude, helpfulness, and dedication to her role as a receptionist.
IHF Kerry Branch Chairperson, Brian Lawlor, emphasised the importance of recognizing excellence and fostering talent within the industry. He highlighted the need to support future leaders and provide opportunities for career progression and development.
Maud will now represent Kerry at the national IHF Employee of the Year Awards which will be held during the IHF's Annual Conference at the Gleneagle Hotel INEC in February 2025.
