This summer, The Dunloe Hotel and Gardens invites guests to immerse themselves in culinary delight with an exclusive four date Chef’s Table experience running from June – October 2024.

The Chef’s Table will take place at The Grill Restaurant at The Dunloe Hotel & Gardens and will be hosted by esteemed Executive Head Chef Jupp Osterloh and Head Chef, Thomas Ostermann.

The intimate dining experience will take place across four dates with a new seasonal menu on each date:
· Saturday, June 29
· Saturday, August 10
· Saturday, August 31
· Saturday, October 5
Guests will enjoy an evening of inspiration while seated in front of The Grill Restaurant open kitchen, to engage with the culinary team as they work closely to present a bespoke eight course menu.

The special seasonal menus will focus on locally sourced ingredients from farmers, fishermen and growers of the region using a variety of innovative techniques including the naturally fuelled Josper Grill.

Attendees will savour each meticulously crafted and decadent course amidst delightful company and the stunning backdrop of The Gap of Dunloe.

Dishes that will be served at the first Chef’s Table in June include decadent Atlantic Lobster Consommé and Trio of Killarney Spring Lamb with the menu highlighting elements of Buckwheat, Strawberry and Parsley.

The eight-course menu will cost €125.00 per person and can be booked individually or as a group, with a maximum number of 8 guests seated.

The Chef’s Table experience will begin at 7.00pm on each date and all guests will be seated at one table.
The menu is predetermined, however dietary requirements are happily catered for, and a wine pairing menu will be available on the night. Pre-booking is essential to avoid disappointment.

Killarney Camera Club announced that the winner of its latest Novice Category competition is Anne Kelly for her photograph titled ‘Reflective Rhino’.

The theme for the monthly contest was ‘Texture’. Anne’s winning image, a close-up photo of a rhinoceros, impressed judges with its incredible detail, capturing every crease, crack, and fold of the rhino’s skin.
The competition was judged by photographer Vivian Buckley, who offered a critique praising Anne’s eye for detail and confirming that the image effectively “nailed the theme”.

Students from three local secondary schools, St Brendan’s College, St Bridget’s Secondary School, and Killarney Community College, are joining forces with the Killarney Tidy Town Committee, Kerry County Council, and the Meitheal group to focus on environmental projects.

The students recently gave impressive presentations detailing their efforts to actively promote biodiversity, tackle litter waste, and protect the environment.
Attending the presentations were members of the Tidy Towns Committee and Mayor of Killarney Councillor Martin Grady.
The students have conducted surveys to highlight the worst areas prone to litter and have carried out subsequent litter picking in those areas while also creating public awareness.
Additionally, bird feeders have been made in woodwork classes and mounted within the school grounds.
One of the key strategies adopted by the schools to maintain and increase diversity has been the development and nurturing of garden areas within their grounds.
These green spaces serve a vital role in supporting the local ecosystem, promoting student well-being, and empowering learners of all abilities.
