This summer, The Dunloe Hotel and Gardens invites guests to immerse themselves in culinary delight with an exclusive four date Chef’s Table experience running from June – October 2024.

The Chef’s Table will take place at The Grill Restaurant at The Dunloe Hotel & Gardens and will be hosted by esteemed Executive Head Chef Jupp Osterloh and Head Chef, Thomas Ostermann.

The intimate dining experience will take place across four dates with a new seasonal menu on each date:
· Saturday, June 29
· Saturday, August 10
· Saturday, August 31
· Saturday, October 5
Guests will enjoy an evening of inspiration while seated in front of The Grill Restaurant open kitchen, to engage with the culinary team as they work closely to present a bespoke eight course menu.

The special seasonal menus will focus on locally sourced ingredients from farmers, fishermen and growers of the region using a variety of innovative techniques including the naturally fuelled Josper Grill.

Attendees will savour each meticulously crafted and decadent course amidst delightful company and the stunning backdrop of The Gap of Dunloe.

Dishes that will be served at the first Chef’s Table in June include decadent Atlantic Lobster Consommé and Trio of Killarney Spring Lamb with the menu highlighting elements of Buckwheat, Strawberry and Parsley.

The eight-course menu will cost €125.00 per person and can be booked individually or as a group, with a maximum number of 8 guests seated.

The Chef’s Table experience will begin at 7.00pm on each date and all guests will be seated at one table.
The menu is predetermined, however dietary requirements are happily catered for, and a wine pairing menu will be available on the night. Pre-booking is essential to avoid disappointment.

Killarney Chamber of Tourism and Commerce has expressed condolences following the death of Dick Henggeler, the well-known owner of The Rose Hotel in Tralee.

Mr Henggeler passed away peacefully at his home in Baltimore, USA surrounded by his Aghadoe-born wife Eibhlin (née Moriarty), their son Franz, and other family members.
Dick and Eibhlin purchased The Rose Hotel in 2015 in tribute to their late daughter Dorothy, who represented Washington DC in the 2011 Rose of Tralee Festival.
The Chamber said Mr Henggeler would be remembered for his warmth, good nature and positive approach, as well as for being a forward-thinking and knowledgeable businessman.
“He knew how to run a good hotel and that was and still is very obvious at The Rose Hotel, which is a great success story,” the Chamber said.
It added that continuity of ownership will remain in place, with Eibhlin, Franz, daughter-in-law Amber, and grandchildren Conrad and Rowan continuing to honour Dick’s legacy and vision for the hotel.
“Dick took enormous personal pride in Tralee and all of Kerry and he was always available to generously support any community initiative or endeavour undertaken in Killarney,” the Chamber said.
“He will be greatly missed by all that knew him but he leaves a wonderful legacy.”

He will repose at O’Shea’s Funeral Home, Killarney, on Friday (October 17), from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. The funeral will arrive at St Mary’s Cathedral on Saturday morning at 10:00am for Requiem Mass at 10:30am, with burial afterwards in Aghadoe Cemetery. The Requiem Mass will be live streamed at https://www.churchservices.tv/killarneycathedral.
