EirGrid to host Energy Citizens Roadshow in Killarney

EirGrid, the developer and operator of the national electricity grid, is set to host its Energy Citizens Roadshow in Killarney later this month.
Led by EirGrid, in partnership with ESB Networks and the SEAI (Ireland’s national sustainable energy authority), this free event will inform local communities across Kerry about retrofitting grants, community micro-generation schemes and plans to future-proof the electricity grid in the region.
The roadshow will take place from 6.30pm to 8.30pm on Wednesday, June 19th at the Brehon Hotel..
Kerry native and PR guru Brian Purcell will lead the evening’s proceedings, giving the public an opportunity to engage with an expert panel, including representatives from ESB Networks, the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) and the Dingle Hub.
The roadshow will also host a range of local exhibitors showcasing the latest information about home energy efficiency upgrades, heat pumps and solar energy.
“This event aims to bring together communities and businesses across Kerry to learn how the southwest will play an integral role in the future of the electricity grid, while also learning more about the supports that are available at a local level,” said Head of Public Engagement at EirGrid, Sinead Dooley.
“We are also aware of people’s concerns regarding energy consumption and the need for savings, so we are also pleased to have local exhibitors who will provide relevant information regarding home energy upgrades, heat pumps and solar panel installation, as well as supports in the agricultural sector.”
“We look forward to welcoming everyone to the event and hearing from industry leaders and community representatives, about how we can all work towards achieving our shared climate ambitions.”
