Seating benches for Muckross Road
By Sean Moriarty
Seating benches are to be installed along a popular walkway on Muckross Road.
The idea was put forward by Cllr John O’Donoghue at a recent Killarney Municipal District meeting.
The benches will be installed intermittently from Flesk Bridge to the entrance of Muckross House.
“We are very lucky to have the facility to be able to walk from our town all the way out into the National Park towards Muckross House, and I commend the engineers and Council staff for their work maintaining the Jarvey Path, but a bench or two along the way would allow those who require it, a chance to stop and rest their body and mind,” Cllr O’Donoghue told the meeting.
“I am not requesting anything fancy; simple seating, maybe a bench or two in keeping with their surrounds would be perfectly adequate.”
The Council have agreed to install seating intermittently along this path as part of their proposed upgrade of the jarvey path/cycle path. However, it will need to liaise with the National Parks and Wildlife Service with regard to the section that falls under their remit.
