Kerry Parents and Friends unveiled their new fleet of buses – the fruits of a long term fundraising campaign – on Saturday last, September 4.

Kerry Parents and Friends ‘Buy a Bus Campaign’, led by Agnes Rooney and ably assisted by Conor Hennigan, Tony Darmody, Emer Corridan, Ciara Roche and AustIn Rooney, held a thank you day at the organisation’s Port Road headquarters.

“It was a campaign run to achieve one goal, to replenish the ageing, dilapidated fleet of buses for the organisation by asking for our support through barn dances, golf classics, gatherings of all descriptions, corporate sponsorships, club donations, and support from families and friends,” Chief Executive Marie Linehan told the Killarney Advertiser.

“'The Buy a Bus Campaign' did its job. It raised a staggering €242,829, a fantastic result! A total of 16 vehicles were procured primarily through these funds but also through donations of vehicles by supporters of the campaign.

“The organisation was keen to thank the 'Buy a Bus Committee' but they also wish to thank all their supporters near and far, who made the dream happen and ultimately made the lives of those using their transport a little easier and more comfortable.

“Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was not possible to open the event to the public but they want their message spread far and wide. Thank You for your Support. It has made a real difference.”
