“Positive step forward” for St Mary of the Angels

The intervention of Robert Watt, Secretary General of the Department of Health, in the ongoing issues at St Mary of the Angels is a very welcome development, a Kerry County Councillor said this week.
In a letter to the Chief Executive of the HSE, Mr Watt has advised that St John of God Community Services, who run St Mary of the Angels in Beaufort, is an important service provider for the State and has instructed them to develop a 'Sustainability Impact Assessment' to ensure the service can be maintained there.
"This is early days, but we finally have a positive step forward for the residents and their families and I would like to thank Minister Norma Foley for her intervention on behalf of the residents," Fianna Fáil Councillor Michael Cahill said.
"It is imperative that no stone is left unturned in securing the long term future of St Mary of the Angels. We owe it to the residents, their families and the wonderful staff."
