A former member of Muckross Rowing Club is among two Kerry women selected to represent Ireland at next weekend’s European Rowing Championship in Italy. Killorglin native Aileen Crowley, who currently rows with Old Collegians Boat Club in Dublin will join Poznan-born Killorglin woman Monica Dukarska in the April 9 to 11 event.
The Kerry crew, who will be competing together in the Women’s Pairs class, will join an illustrious Irish team that includes Olympic heroes Paul and Gary O’Donovan.
“We are very happy with the team selected for the European Rowing Championships next month. A lot of hard work and preparation has gone into the camps, and I want to thank the athletes, coaches, clubs and their families for their continued support,” said Rowing Ireland’s High-Performance Director, Antonio Maurogiovanni.
The pair previously qualified for the delayed Tokyo Olympics and a strong performance next weekend will go a long way towards their inclusion in the Irish team for the July/August games.
