Their kindness knows no bounds as staff from one local hotel teamed up once again to raise funds for charity. Led by Executive Chef, Noel Enright, the kitchen team at The Lake Hotel not only completed a series of 5k events but the male staff also opted to change their look - for the month of November - by taking part in the Movember challenge all in aid of the Palliative Care Unit in University Hospital Kerry (UHK).

Each participant’s entry fee will be donated to the chosen charity. A GoFundMe page: 'Lake Hotel raise funds for Palliative Care Unit' has also been created to help raise funds for this very worthy cause.

Palliative care is an approach that improves the quality of life of patients and their families facing the problem associated with life-threatening illness, through the prevention and relief of suffering. Kerry Specialist Palliative Care is a fully integrated service providing care to patients across all settings; home, nursing home, community hospitals, acute hospital and specialist inpatient unit. The hub of the service is the specialist palliative care unit which is attached to UHK and has access to all its services. The palliative care team work together to provide the best possible holistic care for patients, their families and loved ones.

“We are delighted to be raising funds for this very worthy cause," Noel Enright from The Lake Hotel said.

"The Palliative Care Unit do such tremendous work and we look forward to making our donation to them. Last year we raised funds for Temple Street Children’s Hospital and we also completed a sky dive in aid of Kerry Mountain Rescue, we’re excited to see what next year will bring.” As a seasonal hotel, The Lake Hotel will remain closed until January 21, 2021. During this time, The Lake Hotel reservations team remain fully operational and are happy to assist with any queries for 2021 and beyond. Christmas vouchers may be purchased either at the hotel or via phone/online 064 6631035 www.lakehotel.com.
