Mayor thanks Killarney Advertiser team
Killarney Mayor Michael Gleeson has praised the Killarney Advertiser in its efforts to keep the community updated during the height of the pandemic.
Killarney’s number one weekly news title – and the town’s longest-serving news magazine – continued to publish throughout the crisis.
The Killarney Advertiser’s team, despite the challenge of working within COVID-19 restrictions, delivered more exclusive news content than any other title over the last few weeks.
The efforts of the team have been recognised by the Mayor, who is still cocooning as he and his wife are both over 70.
“As we continue in our strange new world of safe distancing, hand washing and for some of us, varying degrees of cocooning I, as Mayor of the Municipal District and as an individual wish to express sincere gratitude to the Management and Staff at Killarney Advertiser,” he said. “Your thoughtfulness and the co-operation of the wonderful postwomen and men have ensured that we were able to remain in touch with the wider world. It also, very importantly, means that even in our isolation we do not feel alone and forgotten. That feeling of still being part of the community greatly helped and is continuing to keep many of us positive and optimistic.”
