Snowdrops will be planted in memory of Archdeacon Fr Michael Murphy in town tomorrow morning (Saturday).
The event, which was scheduled for last Saturday, was cancelled due to Storm Jorge.
Killarney Looking Good Committee have now rescheduled the event to tomorrow and plan to plant snowdrops in honour of their wonderful friend, who is deeply missed since his passing, in the green area on Mission Road from 9am to 1pm.
It is a once in four year opportunity to mark this day and volunteers don't have to stay for the entire session.
"It is the committee’s intention the planting will improve biodiversity while also bringing people together, getting some gentle exercise and fresh air,” Eileen O'Donoghue, Killarney Municipal Officer, said.
“We have an amazing National Park on our doorstep and this is a great opportunity for people to come together and enhance the link between the town and the park. You don't need to be an expert gardener as no experience necessary and all equipment will be provided."
Remember, even an hours planting will leave a lasting legacy for the whole community to enjoy, she added.
The event is supported by South Kerry Development Partnership, Kerry County Council and Killarney Chamber of Tourism and Commerce.
