Killarney Gardaí issue warning as thieves target mobile phones
T
THIEVES swooped on parked cars in the Killarney area over the past weekend, making off with valuable goods including mobile phones and other electronic devices.
As part of an on-going crime prevention initiative, Killarney Gardaí are raising awareness in relation to the theft of mobile phones and would like all members of the public to consider the key points to protect against the theft of their mobile phones.
“Dial *#06# and save a screenshot of your IMEI number. Email the image to yourself,” said Superintendent Flor Murphy of Killarney Gardaí. “Keep your phone locked and enable the PIN security and phone finder features.”
Keep your phone out of public view and don’t call or text while crossing the road, advise Gardaí.
“Don’t leave your phone behind in the car,” said Supt Murphy. “Report phone theft or loss to the Gardaí and your service provider,” added Supt Murphy.
