Gold for Wilson at UK Nationals
L
Last weekend, Killarney’s Wilson da Silva travelled to the UK to take on some of the best in Europe at the Brazilian Jiu-jitsu UK Nationals. It was his first outing as a purple belt having been recently promoted by John Kavanagh of Straight Blast Gym, Ireland.
Wilson continued his winning streak from 2017 were he won numerous National and International medals, proving himself to be one of the most accomplished grapplers in Europe. He faced tough competition in Birmingham but as always he rose to the challenge and showed the warrior mentality he's become so well-known for.
The Brazilian returned home with an impressive haul of three medals: gold in No Gi, silver in the Gi, and bronze in Absolute. Wilson, who trains out of SBG Killarney, was, as usual, very modest about his achievements and is already preparing for his next challenge.
Mark O’Brien of SBG Killarney said everyone was “extremely proud” of all Wilson has achieved. “We look forward to seeing him standing on the winners podium many more times in 2018,” he said.
