Killarney Advertiser and Team Hope appeal for shoeboxes
The Christmas Shoebox Appeal is well underway and the Killarney team are appealing to locals to get involved.
Team Hope’s Christmas Shoebox Appeal is an annual campaign that delivers gifts straight in to the hands of children affected by poverty. Often these shoebox gifts are the only thing that a child will receive at Christmas and the joy that they bring is incredible. Since 2010 Team Hope have delivered over 2.1 million shoebox gifts to vulnerable children across the world.
The initiative is being supported once again by ‘Your Favourite Read’ the Killarney Advertiser, with Chris Davies coordinating the Killarney area, and he is appealing for locals to support this year’s collection.
“After being cancelled last year, the Shoebox Appeal is back and we are calling on everyone in Killarney to get involved and support this fantastic charity,” he said.
“There are a number of local schools getting their pupils involved again which is fantastic but we are appealing to the whole community to get behind this year’s appeal. Whether you are eight or 80 years old, this is a small but meaningful way to spread a bit of happiness this Christmas.”
The Killarney Advertiser office is a designated drop-off point this year and is taking shoeboxes right up until November 8, he added.
Team Hope have put together a great video on how to get involved, but if anyone has any questions they can email Chris at email@example.com.”
Muckross Park Hotel & Spa launches exclusive Tea Room experience
The Tea Room at Muckross Park Hotel & Spa is a delightfully frivolous and charming room, pretty and glamorous with a hint of Art Deco and a soupçon of theatricality.
With blush pink ostrich feathers and gold accents, animal print and rich marble, lush greenery and etched glass, the Tea Room is an appropriately luxe setting for a leisurely afternoon spent with friends, enjoying that most pleasurable of rituals — afternoon tea.
Afternoon tea at Muckross Park Hotel & Spa has been designed by Executive Chef, Scott Kapitan, to reflect the hotel’s stunning setting in the heart of Killarney National Park. With two different menus, one classic and another vegan/gluten-free/guilt-free option, each available for €35 per person, Chef Kapitan has created a tribute to the region that includes some fine local ingredients to create a high-end and luxurious afternoon tea experience.
With an elegant array of fine savoury sandwiches, freshly-made scones baked to a traditional recipe and some uniquely crafted and delicate desserts, these are paired with 20 exceptional teas from Ronnefeldt Teas, with guests having the option of choosing one of the delicious, carefully curated loose leaf teas from one of Europe’s oldest and world-leading tea houses or, indeed, sampling a number of them, if they wish.
As well as luxurious teas created by the innovative and passionate tea connoisseurs at Ronnefeldt, guests might also indulge in a sparkling glass of Veuve Clicquot Champagne for €22, or even a flight for €25, sampling all three of the Brut, Demi-Sec and Rosé styles from this most prestigious Champagne house.
The Tea Room at Muckross Park Hotel & Spa has been designed by local designer Adrian McCarthy Interiors, bringing together bold statement pieces and a subtly eclectic colour palette to bring a little drama and opulence to every experience.
Afternoon tea is available daily in the Tea Room at Muckross Park Hotel & Spa with sittings at 1pm and 3pm and in the evenings, the Tea Room also makes a gorgeous setting for an apéritif before dinner, and can be booked for drinks between 5.30pm and 8pm daily.
